about
Over thirty years ago, responding to the accelerating pace of modern life, Mr. Kozo Iwata founded the Rock Field Company, bringing traditional European-style delicatessens to Japan, introducing both a new and innovative idea. Over time, the company began selling Sozai, a Japanese concept of meals characterized by many small dishes, reflecting a way of eating that is balanced and healthy. Now the Rock Field Company has opened its first American delicatessen – DELICA rf-1 – in San Francisco’s historic Ferry Building. In May, 2009 an independent company known as DELICA IWATA California was established.

DELICA comes to California eager to contribute and learn from the thriving food community in the Bay Area. With a Japanese sensitivity towards food, life, and the environment, only fresh wholesome, ingredients and all natural hormone-free meats are used. Our Panko breadcrumbs are made fresh daily with ACME's organic Pain de Mie bread. Seasonal produce is used as available. The Menu is subject to change, in order to take advantage of the freshest ingredients.
